Senior League

Welcome to Medway Netball League.

We are a vibrant league offering competitions throughout the year for adults and juniors. We have over 40 adult teams playing regularly during the week and over 30 junior teams playing on a Saturday morning. We cater for all abilities and have a hotly contested Premier Division at both junior and adult levels. We welcome players who are looking to return to playing netball as well as those who want to play for social reasons.

Teams play in the senior league on a Monday to Thursday evening in the summer season and a Tuesday and Wednesday evening for the winter.  Players must be 14 years of age or older to play in the senior league and must be affiliated to England Netball and registered to play in the league.  The League welcomes new players and holds training sessions on a Thursday evening in the Sports Hall for those who haven’t played for several years, perhaps since

History: Senior League

The Medway Netball League was founded on one evening in 1954 at Cuxton Village Hall by Pam Woolmer.  From that first evening attended by Pam’s friends and neighbours, six teams were formed. The league has grown from those 6 teams in 1954 to 48 adult teams competing across 6 divisions in 2016.  The League marked its 60th anniversary in 2014. Among the celebrations was a junior league tournament and a mixed tournament at its home at Rainham School for Girls, which saw men play alongside women.  The start of the mixed tournament in the afternoon saw all the League life presidents headed by Pam piped onto the courts by Glenduart Pipes and Drums.  They with former committee members then caught up over tea and cakes, sharing photographs and past newspaper cuttings.  We look forward to the next 60 years and being as successful.
